šø May 12th – Mother’s Day in Viljandi
So much has happened since I last wrote. The most remarkable thing is that spring has finally arrived. The snow said goodbye to us, making way for a long-awaited guest: the sun. We went from freezing temperatures to mild days of around 20 degrees Celsius. The birds are singing again, and the frogs are literally strolling through the city center, calmly crossing right in the middle of the street.
The paths leading to the hospital are now covered with snails and grasshoppers. Everything is cloaked in green. Some flowers have already started to bloom, but I imagine the city won’t be fully bursting with color until June.
The lake began to thaw and flow into the park’s river, as if searching for its way. Meanwhile, the youngsters have started enjoying the floating sauna — and even throwing themselves into the water as if it were a diving board! :D
With the change of season, celebrations have changed too. We no longer have barbecues in the snow but birthday parties by the lake, under a beautiful sun, with a strong wind messing up our hair, roasting bread dough on sticks over the fire. ^_^
As I mentioned in my last entry, the Monday before last I took the bus to Tallinn to spend four days at the Leppoja house, where I attended my midterm training.
Leppoja is a countryside house in Kuusalu, Harjumaa, deep in the forest, on the edge of a lake full of frogs and yellow butterflies, surrounded by trees teeming with birds and inhabited by animals like deer, moose, foxes, wild boars, beavers… and more.

Although temperatures hovered around 15 degrees, it was a magical place.
I went from the regular sauna to trying the famous smoke sauna. I swapped throwing myself onto the snow for jumping straight into the lake. XD
I was happy: this time I understood almost everything. Not like the initial training, where I spent the whole day asking endless questions. This time I only needed help a couple of times. I’ve improved my English so much — though I can hardly believe it myself!
The food was delicious… though a bit sinful: two cakes a day!
There, my dear new friend Karolina Kwinta and I spent an afternoon full of laughter (and a few scares) trying to maneuver a canoe down the river. We wandered through the forest looking for animals and shared ideas, motivations… and some low moments too. But we encouraged each other a lot, like good adventure buddies.
Work is getting better every day. With the nicer weather, we spend much more time outside, playing, jumping on the trampoline, enjoying ourselves. As for tasks, I already knew how to use the nasal aspirator, but now I do it completely on my own, confidently. Another little achievement!
This month a new girl, Anzela, joined us. She’s talkative, friendly, and everyone wants to be around her. She’s a little sunshine!
Regarding events, this month I only took part in a celebration organized by the seniors’ association… but this time I performed alone. And honestly, I did really well :D
Next week I’ll be going back to Tallinn for a meeting with our national organization, and I’ll take the opportunity to keep exploring the city.
I have so many ideas. Although I’m still not quite sure how to put them into practice, I feel that little by little everything is starting to flow more smoothly. And that fills me with hope.
